FALL 2010
EDUCATIONAL TOUR
Greetings to all our old and new school friends. We are looking forward to presenting our Fall Farm Tour Program for Nursery School through Grade 5. We want the children to experience a little of agriculture and have some fun doing it. We believe it is important for all children to learn a little about how and where their food is produced, and the importance of farms in growing the food we eat.
In case you have not heard of us, Brown’s Berry Patch is a family farm located north of Albion in the heart of apple country near Lake Ontario. We are noted for our pick-your-own berries and ice cream in the summer, and apples and pumpkins in the fall. The Brown family has been farming here since the pioneer days in 1804. Our goal is to provide your school group and family great fruit, fun and memories!
The Day's Activities:
| |
- First we go into the Big Barn to talk about what grows on a farm. Many classes have already learned a little bit about apples and pumpkins. We have a small prepared program geared for your grade level, but we would really like to answer any questions you may have about fruits, vegetables, or farm animals.
- Then we go in to see some farm animals including horses, cows, goats, sheep, pigs and chickens.
- Next we will go for a wagon ride through the orchards and out to the pumpkin patch where each child will get to pick their own pumpkin to take home.
- We will have a designated area for your class to eat their bag lunch. We can provide a glass of sweet cider for your class for an additional $.50 per person. Some groups eat lunch here and some do not depending upon their time schedule.
- One of the most anticipated parts of the day for the children is our Barnyard Adventure & Corn Maze. We have a giant slide big enough to give kids (and teachers) a big thrill! There is a climber, stand up teeter totter, playhouse, straw bin, swings, tire yard, large sand box, pedal cars, and three different mazes. We have a Big Rope Maze, and our very popular JUMPING PILLOW that will hold your entire class! The entire yard is decorated with story book characters and friendly Halloween scenes. There is also a goat barn, tractors, and pirate ship to explore. In addition, you are free to take your class for a walk down our lane and make your own farm class adventure.
